Teaching Staff

All 45+ Morris Allen teachers are trained native English speakers. They are selected based on their dedication, passion and qualifications as English specialists and all are registered with the Ministry of Education to teach the English language.

Joan Cradock (Cert Tchg, RR Cert)
Annex Head

Joan is from Christchurch, New Zealand where she taught for many years. She is a very experienced classroom and Reading Recovery teacher. With her husband Greg, she also found teaching in England for 18 months both interesting and rewarding. Since beginning at MAE in 2009, she enjoyed teaching all class levels from Nursery - OP. Students enjoy working in the friendly, supportive and stimulating learning environment she creates.


Ruth Melrose

Ruth is from Christchurch, New Zealand where she has taught for many years as a classroom and Reading Recovery teacher. She also lived in England, with her husband Brian, for 14 years and had many interesting and rewarding experiences teaching in London schools. In her last position there, covering a period of 10 years, she became the English Co-ordinator and was able to introduce Reading Recovery and other literacy measures to boost literacy skills. She shares a passion in helping and encouraging children to improve their English.

Thomas Prather


Thomas came from USA. He moved to Singapore in 1996 and shortly after that he had an opportunity to start teaching in the mainstream schools in Singapore. He taught for three years in the primary and secondary schools. After that, he fell in love with the local system. The passion he has developed through the teaching of Singapore students is immensely invaluable. He has been educating young minds from Nursery level to Degree level for the past fourteen years. Students greatly benefit from his wealth of experience and his friendly nature.

Trudi Sterling

Trudi came from the UK to Singapore via KL, where she taught at our new Empire Gallery Centre. Prior to that, she was working at a British Boarding School in York, UK, after having already spent many years teaching in enrichment centres in Singapore. Trudi has had wide experience working with children of all levels from pre-school to secondary. Her awareness of the needs of local students, her friendly, encouraging and approachable nature makes her a popular choice with both parents and students.


Nadine Rogan

Nadine comes to Singapore from County Down, N.Ireland.  As a young teacher, Nadine is enthusiastic about developing her skills in the Singaporean education system.  She has previously spent two years in Vietnam teaching ESL from kindergarten through to business level.  Having enjoyed her time there, Nadine is keen to teach and expand her skills in Singapore.  Her firm, but positive, encouraging and fair approach develops respect from students which benefits them in their studies.
